Background:
The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-bindingproteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrixinteractions. LGALS3BP has been found elevated in the serum ofpatients with cancer and in those infected by the humanimmunodeficiency virus (HIV). It appears to be implicated in immuneresponse associated with natural killer (NK) andlymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cell cytotoxicity. Usingfluorescence in situ hybridization the full length 90K cDNA hasbeen localized to chromosome 17q25. The native protein bindsspecifically to a human macrophage-associated lectin known as Mac-2and also binds galectin 1.

Other Names:
Galectin-3-binding protein, Basement membrane autoantigen p105, Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 3-binding protein, Mac-2-binding protein, MAC2BP, Mac-2 BP, Tumor-associated antigen 90K, LGALS3BP, M2BP

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence is selected from aa 398-412 of HUMAN LGALS3BP

Gene Name: LGALS3BP
