Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Replication and Repair
Description:
Microtubules are associated with a family of proteins called microtubule associated proteins (MAPs), which includes the protein tau, MAP1, MAP2, MAP3, MAP4 and MAP5. Microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP2) helps stabilize microtubules against depolymerization. MAP2 also has a stiffening effect on microtubules. MAP2 is phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. MAP2 is made up of two 280 kDa apparent MW bands referred to as MAP2a and MAP2b. A third lower MW form, called MAP2c, corresponds to a pair of protein bands running at 70 kDa. This antibody only detects MAP2a and MAP2b.
Alternate Names: Microtubule-associated protein 2, MAP-2, MAP2
Application Notes: E: 1:5000-1:10,000; WB: 1:20,000; IF: 1:2,500
Accession No.: P11137
Antigen: Bovine MAP2 isolated from brain by the GTP microtubule cycling method.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgY in PBS pH7.4 with 0.065% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by PEG precipitation.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
