Background:
Myelin basic protein (MBP) is an abundant central nervous system (CNS) myelin membrane protein that plays an important role in nerve myelination. Myelin sheaths are multi-layered membranes derived from oligodendrocytes that increase the conduction velocity of axonal impulses. MBP helps to adhere the cytoplasmic leaflets of adjacent oligodendrocyte membranes to one another. Several splice variants of MBP are expressed in cells and the protein is modified following translation (i.e. phosphorylation, methylation), which suggests additional membrane adhesion functions.
Alternative Name:
Myelin basic protein, MBP, Myelin A1 protein, Myelin membrane encephalitogenic protein, MBP
Application Dilution: WB: 1:500~1:1000
Specificity: MBP (phospho-T232) polyclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of MBP protein only when phosphorylated at T232..
Immunogen:
Synthetic phosphopeptide derived from human MBP around the phosphorylation site of Threonine 232.
MW: ~ 12-18 kDa
Swis Prot.: P02686
Purification & Purity:
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen and the purity is > 95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Format:
1 mg/ml in Phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide, approx. pH 7.3.
Storage:
Store at 4°C short term. Aliquot and store at -20°C long term. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
For research use only, not for use in diagnostic procedure.
