Description:
MCP-1 is a chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. MCP-1 augments monocyte anti-tumor activity, and is involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis. MCP-1 has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis.

Alternate Names: MCP-1, Monocyte chemotactic protein 1, C-C motif chemokine 2, Small-inducible cytokine A2, Monocyte chemoattractant protein 1, Monocyte chemotactic and activating factor, MCAF, Monocyte secretory protein JE, HC11, CCL2, MCP1, SCYA2
