Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Signal Transduction, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: C-C motif chemokine 8, small-inducible cytokin A8, monocyte chemoattractant protein 2, monocyte chemotactic protein 2, MCP-2(6-76), CCL8, MCP2, SCYA10, SCYA8Description:
Monocyte chemoattractant protein 2 (MCP-2 or C-C motif chemokine 8) is a chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils. MCP-2 plays a role in neoplasia and inflammatory host responses. This protein can bind heparin. The processed form MCP-2(6-76) does not show monocyte chemotactic activity, but inhibits the chemotactic effect most predominantly of CCL7, and also of CCL2, CCL5, and CCL8. Recombinant Human MCP-2 produced in E. coli is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 76 amino acids with a MW of 8,904 Da.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
MCP-2 is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The biological activity, as determined by dose-dependent induction of human peripheral blood monocyte chemotaxis, is in a range of 8-80ng/ml.
Accession No.: P80075
MW: 8904 Da
Sequence:
QPDSVSIPIT CCFNVINRKI PIQRLESYTR ITNIQCPKEA VIFKTKRGKE VCADPKERWV RDSMKHLDQI FQNLKP
Purity:
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
