Background:
The product of this gene catalyzes the breakdown ofmalonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA and carbon dioxide. Malonyl-CoA is anintermediate in fatty acid biosynthesis, and also inhibits thetransport of fatty acyl CoAs into mitochondria. Consequently, theencoded protein acts to increase the rate of fatty acid oxidation. It is found in mitochondria, peroxisomes, and the cytoplasm.Mutations in this gene result in malonyl-CoA decarboyxlasedeficiency.
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
