Background:
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family areinvolved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normalphysiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in diseaseprocesses, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's aresecreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleavedby extracellular proteinases. However, the protein encoded by thisgene is a member of the membrane-type MMP (MT-MMP) subfamily; eachmember of this subfamily contains a potential transmembrane domainsuggesting that these proteins are expressed at the cell surfacerather than secreted.

Other Names:
Matrix metalloproteinase-15, MMP-15, 3424-, Membrane-type matrix metalloproteinase 2, MT-MMP 2, MTMMP2, Membrane-type-2 matrix metalloproteinase, MT2-MMP, MT2MMP, SMCP-2, MMP15

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13751a was selected from the N-term region of MMP15. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: MMP15

Gene ID: 4324
Primary Accession: P51511
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
