Background:
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family areinvolved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normalphysiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in diseaseprocesses, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's aresecreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleavedby extracellular proteinases. This protein is expressed in humanepidermis and it has a role in cellular proliferation as well asmigration and adhesion to type I collagen. Multiple transcriptvariants encoding distict isoforms have been identified for thisgene.
Other Names:
Matrix metalloproteinase-19, MMP-19, 3424-, Matrix metalloproteinase RASI, Matrix metalloproteinase-18, MMP-18, MMP19, MMP18, RASI
Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13759a was selected from the N-term region of MMP19. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Gene Name: MMP19
Gene ID: 4327
Primary Accession: Q99542
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
