Background:
Mtmr7 is a member of the myotubularin (MTM) family. In mouse cells, MTMR7 is expressed mainly in brain and neuroblastoma. Recombinant MTMR7 dephosphorylates the D-3 position of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate and inositol 1,3-bisphosphate. Immunofluorescence data shows that MTMR7 is localized in Golgi-like granules and cytosol, and subcellular fractionation showed both cytoplasmic and membrane localization of MTMR7 in neuronal cells. Binding of MTMR9 increases the phosphatase activity of MTMR7.

The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6807a was selected from the C-term region of human MTMR7 . A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
