Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems, Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description:
Neurofilament triplet H protein (NF-H) is one of the three intermediate filament proteins (L, M and H) making up neurofilaments. NF-H is involved in the maintenance of neuronal caliber. NF-H has an important function in mature axons that is not subserved by the two smaller NF proteins. Phosphorylation plays a major role in the functioning of the larger neurofilament polypeptides (NF-M and NF-H), the levels of phosphorylation being altered developmentally and coincident wih a change in the neurofilament function. Defects in NF-H are a cause of susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disorder affecting upper and lower motor neurons resulting in fatal paralysis.
Alternate Names: Neurofilament heavy polypeptide, NF-H, Neurofilament triplet H protein, 200 kDa neurofilament protein, NEFH, NFH
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P12036
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human NF-H.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 0.1 mg/ml BSA, 25% glycerol with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
