Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description:
Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. NF-L is the neurofilament light or low molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at about 68kDa. Antibodies to NF-L are useful for identifying neuronal cells and their processes in tissue sections and in tissue culture. Mutations in the protein coding region of the human NF-L gene cause some forms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
Alternate Names: Neurofilament light polypeptide, NF-L, 68 kDa neurofilament protein, Neurofilament triplet L protein, NEFL, NFL
Application Notes: Product Cat. No. 253178 is specific for endogenous levels of the 68 kDa NF-L in frozen sections, fixed cells in IF and midly formalin-fixed histological sections. E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:10,000; IF: 1:5,000
Accession No.: P07196
Antigen: Preparation of bovine spinal cord intermediate filaments.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgY in PBS pH7.4 with 0.065% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by PEG precipitation.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
