Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description:
Neurofilaments are the 10nm or intermediate filament proteins found specifically in neurons, and are composed predominantly of three major proteins called NF-L, NF-M and NF-H. NF-M is the neurofilament middle or medium molecular weight polypeptide and runs on SDS-PAGE gels at 145-160 kDa, with some variability across species boundaries. Antibodies to NF-M are useful for identifying neuronal cells and their processes in tissue sections and in tissue culture. NF-M antibodies can also be useful to visualize neurofilament accumulations seen in many neurological diseases, such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease) and Alzheimer's disease.
Alternate Names: Neurofilament medium polypeptide, NF-M, 160 kDa neurofilament protein, Neurofilament 3, Neurofilament triplet M protein
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:1,000; IF: 1:100
Accession No.: P12839
Antigen: Recombinant fusion protein containing the C-term region of rat NF-M expressed in E. coli.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of HEPES (pH7.5), 0.01% BSA, 50% glycerol with 0.065% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
