Protein Family: Cytoskeleton Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems, Neurodegenerative Disorders
Description:
NF-M (Neurofilament medium polypeptide) is a neurofilament protein. Neurofilaments usually contain three intermediate filament proteins: L, M, and H which are involved in the maintenance of neuronal caliber. Phosphorylation seems to play a major role in the functioning of the larger neurofilament polypeptides (NF-M and NF-H), the levels of phosphorylation being altered developmentally and coincident with a change in the neurofilament function. NF-M is phosphorylated in the head and rod regions by the PKC kinase PKN1, leading to inhibition of polymerization.
Alternate Names: NF-M, Neurofilament triplet M, Neurofilament medium polypeptide, 160 kDa neurofilament protein, Neurofilament 3, NEFM, NEF3, NFM
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P07197
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the center region of human NF-M.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
