Protein Family: Enzymes
Pathway and Disease: Amino Acid Metabolism, Cancers, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Neurodegenerative Disorders, Signal Transduction
Description:
Nitric oxide synthases (NOS) are enzymes that catalyze the generation of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine and require nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) as a cofactor. At least three NOS isoforms have been identified: neuronal NOS (nNOS or NOS1 or bNOS), inducible NOS (iNOS or NOSII) and endothelial NOS (eNOS or NOS III). NOS-1 produces NO which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. NO behaves as a neurotransmitter in the brain and peripheral nervous system. Genetic variations of NOS1 gene are associated with susceptibility to infantile pyloric stenosis type 1 (IHPS1).
Alternate Names: Nitric oxide synthase, brain, bNOS, NOS type I, Neuronal NOS, N-NOS, nNOS, Constitutive NOS, NC-NOS, NOS1, NOS-1
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:200-1:500
Accession No.: P29475
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human NOS1.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
