Protein Family: Cellular Antigens
Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Cell Growth and Death, Development and Behavior, Cancers
Description:
Neurogenic locus notch homolog protein 1 (Notch 1) functions as a receptor for membrane-bound ligands Jagged1, Jagged2 and Delta1 to regulate cell-fate determination. Upon ligand activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD), Notch 1 forms a transcriptional activator complex with RBP-J kappa and activates genes of the enhancer of split locus. Notch 1 affects the implementation of differentiation, proliferation and apoptotic programs. Defects in Notch 1 are a cause of bicuspid aortic valve (BAV), a common defect in the aortic valve in which two rather than three leaflets are present. It is often associated with aortic valve calcification and insufficiency. In extreme cases, the blood flow may be so restricted that the left ventricle fails to grow, resulting in hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Alternate Names: Neurogenic locus notch homolog protein 1, Notch 1, hN1, Translocation-associated notch protein TAN-1, NOTCH1, TAN1
Application Notes: E: 1:1,000-1:10,000; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P46531
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the N-term region of human Notch 1.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 0.1% BSA with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography.
