Background:
This gene encodes an adhesive junction associated protein of the armadillo/beta-catenin superfamily and is implicated in brain and eye development and cancer formation. The protein encoded by this gene promotes the disruption of E-cadherin based adherens junction to favor cell spreading upon stimulation by hepatocyte growth factor. This gene is overexpressed in prostate adenocarcinomas and is associated with decreased expression of tumor suppressor E-cadherin in this tissue. This gene resides in a region of the short arm of chromosome 5 that is deleted in Cri du Chat syndrome.

Synonyms:
GT24, NPRAP

Isotype: Guinea pig Polyclonal

Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide J7 (corresponding to aa 1175-1192), conjugated to KLH

Form: Stabilized Serum

Specificity:
The antibody reacts specifically with neurojungin (delta¬catenin, a unique 160 kD polypeptide of the plakoglobin / armadillo protein family) present in adhering type junctions in the nervous system, primarily expressed in the brain. Delta¬catenin also binds to presenilin-1, mutations of this protein are described to play a role in familial Alzheimer's disease. No cross-reaction with other members of the armadillo / plakoglobin protein family.

Reactivity: human, bovine, rat, mouse

Applications: Immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin sections (microwave treatment), Immunofluorescence microscopy, Immunoblotting (western, ECL)

Working DIlution: 1:100 for immunofluorescence microscopy (dilute immediately before use with PBS); 1:2500 in Western blotting (using ECL)

Positive Control:
Murine brain, retina. Reactivities in Cultured Cell Lines: Murine cell line A1 B2, stably transfected with neurojungin cDNA.

Storage: 2-8C
