Protein Family: Cytokines
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signal Transduction
Alternate Names: Neurotophin 3, Nerve growth factor 2, NGF-2, HGNF, NT3Description:
Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) is an important member of the nerve growth factor (NGF) family of proteins behind BDNF and NGF. It is thought to promote the survival or differentiation of existing and new neurons in the central nervous system and synapses. These functions are thought to be communicated by TrkC, a receptor tryrosine kinase thought to induce NT-3-specific signaling. In addition, NT-3 is thought to also bind TrkB and low affinity nerve growth factor receptor (LNGFR). Mouse NT-3 is produced in E.coli. Recombinant mouse NT-3 is a non-glycosylated, non-covalently linked homodimer, containing two 119 amino acid chains, with a total molecular weight of 27.2 kDa.
Source: E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.05ng/ug or <0.5EU/ug.
Applications: E, WB
Application Notes:
The activity, determined by the dose-dependent proliferation of BaF3 cells transfected with the TrkB receptor, is typically in the range of 1-10 ng/mL. Specific activity: 1 x 10e6 units/mg
Accession No.: P20109
MW: 27200 Da
Sequence:
YAEHKSHRGE YSVCDSESLW VTDKSSAIDI RGHQVTVLGE IKTGNSPVKQ YFYETRCKEA RPVKNGCRGI DDKHWNSQCK TSQTYVRALT SENNKLVGWR WIRIDTSCVC ALSRKIGRT
Purity:
Purity > 95% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Format:
Each vial contains 10 ug of lyophilized protein. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Storage: Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
