Protein Family: Transcription Factors
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems
Description:
Olig genes have been identified as the earliest known markers of oligodendrocyte lineage determination to date. Olig1 is a transcription factor which promotes formation and maturation of oligodendrocytes, especially within the brain. It is expressed in the ventral spinal cord as early as 9.5 dpc and by 15.5 dpc, olig1 is dispersed throughout the gray matter. In the postnatal brain, olig1 is present preferentially in the white matter, such as corpus callosum and cerebellar medulla. Olig1 has been demonstrated as necessary in the repair of brain lesions in patients with multiple sclerosis.
Alternate Names: Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 1, Oligo1, Oligodendrocyte-specific bHLH transcription factor 1, Olig1
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:3,000; IHC:1:1,000; ICC: 1:1,000; IP: 1:50
Accession No.: Q9JKN5
Antigen: Recombinant mouse Olig1.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgG in Tris pH8.0, 100mM glycine with 0.065% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
