Protein Family: Enzymes, Protein Kinases, Cellular Antigens
Pathway and Disease: Endocrine System, Signal Transduction, Immune System, Nervous and Sensory Systems, Development and Behavior, Neurodegenerative Disorders, Infectious Diseases
Description:
Mitogen-activated protein kinase p38 alpha (p38 MAPK) responds to activation by environmental stress, pro-inflammatory cytokines and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) by phosphorylating a number of transcription factors, such as ELK1 and ATF2 and several downstream kinases, such as MAPKAPK2 and MAPKAPK5. P38 MAPK plays a critical role in the production of some cytokines, for example IL-6. P38 MAPK plays a role in stabilization of EPO mRNA during hypoxic stress. p38 MAPK is activated by a dual specificity kinase that phosphorylates Thr180 and Tyr182.
Alternate Names: p38 MAPK, Mitogen-activated protein kinase 14, Mitogen-activated protein kinase p38 alpha, MAP kinase p38 alpha, Cytokine suppressive anti-inflammatory drug-binding protein, CSAID-binding protein, CSBP, MAX-interacting-protein 2, MAP kinase MXI2, SAPK2A, MAPK14, p38
Application Notes: E: 1:5,000; WB: 1:1,000: IHC: 1:250
Accession No.: P70618
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic phosphopeptide encompassing a sequence surrounding Thr180/Tyr182 of rat p38 MAPK.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgG in HEPES pH7.5, 150 mM NaCl, 0.01% BSA and 50% glycerol. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography on phosphopeptide and nonphosphopeptide.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
