Protein Family: Transcription Factors

Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Communication, Cell Growth and Death, Folding, Sorting and Degradation, Signal Transduction

Alternate Names: Cellular tumor antigen p53; Tumor suppressor p53; phosphoprotein p53; Antigen NY-CO-13; TP53

Accession No.: P04637, NP_000537

Description:
p53 acts as a tumor suppressor in many tumor types by inducing growth arrest or apoptosis. P53 is also involved in cell cycle regulation as transactivator that negatively regulate cell division. Defects in p53 are the cause of numerous cancers.

Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.

MW: 1809 g/mol

Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200143 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human p53. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.

Composition:
C74H125N27O24S1

Purity:
> 80% by HPLC

Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.

Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
