Protein Family: Enzymes, Protein Kinases
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Immune System, Endocrine System, Cancers
Description:
70 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70-S6K) acts to integrate nutrient and growth factor signals in regulation of protein synthesis, cell proliferation, cell growth, cell cycle progression and cell survival. P70-S6K is a downstream effector of the mTOR signaling pathway. P70-S6K phosphorylates specifically ribosomal protein S6 in response to insulin or several classes of mitogens. During translation initiation, the inactive form associatess with the eIF-3 complex under conditions of nutrient depletion. Mitogenic stimulation leads to phosphorylation and dissociation from the eIF-3 complex and the free activated form can phosphorylate other translational targets including EIF4B.
Alternate Names: Ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1, Ribosomal protein S6 kinase I, S6K1, S6K, 70 kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase1, p70 S6 kinase alpha, p70(S6K)-alpha, p70-S6K, P70S6K, p70-alpha, RPS6KB1
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P23443
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the C-term region of human p70-S6K.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was immunoaffinity purified with c-terminal p70-S6K on agarose.
