Protein Family: Ubiquitins, Enzymes

Pathway and Disease: Neurodegenerative Disorders, Folding, Sorting and Degradation

Description:
Parkin is an E3 ligase in the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Hereditary Parkinson’s disease is most commonly caused by mutations in the parkin gene and is characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons and the presence of Lewy bodies in the substania nigra. Recent evidence suggests that phosphorylation of parkin at Ser378 may have an important regulatory role on its E3 ubiquitin ligase activity.

Alternate Names: E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase parkin, Parkinson juvenile disease protein 2, Parkinson disease protein 2, PARK2, PRKN

Application Notes: E: 1:1,000; WB: 1:1,000

Accession No.: O60260

Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic phosphopeptide encompassing a sequence surrounding Ser378 of human parkin.

Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml IgG in HEPES pH7.5, 150 mM NaCl, 0.01% BSA and 50% glycerol. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography.
