Background:
Proprotein convertases, including PCSK4, arecalcium-dependent serine proteases related to bacterial subtilisinsand to yeast kexin. These enzymes process precursor proteins totheir active forms by selective cleavage of the polypeptide atsites following paired basic amino acids.
