Background:
Presenilins, which are components of the gamma-secretase protein complex, are required for intramembranous processing of some type I transmembrane proteins, such as the Notch proteins and the beta-amyloid precursor protein. Signaling by Notch receptors mediates a wide range of developmental cell fates. Processing of the beta-amyloid precursor protein generates neurotoxic amyloid beta peptides, the major component of senile plaques associatedwith Alzheimer's disease. This gene encodes a protein that is required for Notch pathway signaling, and for the activity and accumulation of gamma-secretase.

Other Names:
Gamma-secretase subunit PEN-2, Presenilin enhancer protein 2, PSENEN, PEN2

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6301f was selected from the C-term region of human PEN2. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: PSENEN

Gene ID: 55851
Primary Accession: Q9NZ42
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
