Background:
Presenilins, which are components of the gamma-secretase protein complex, are required for intramembranous processing of some type I transmembrane proteins, such as the Notch proteins and the beta-amyloid precursor protein. Signaling by Notch receptors mediates a wide range of developmental cell fates. Processing of the beta-amyloid precursor protein generates neurotoxic amyloid beta peptides, the major component of senile plaques associated with Alzheimer's disease. PEN2 is required for Notch pathway signaling, and for the activity and accumulation of gamma-secretase.

Other Names:
Gamma-secretase subunit PEN-2, Presenilin enhancer protein 2, PSENEN, PEN2

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP6301a was selected from the N-term region of human PEN2 . A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: PSENEN

Gene ID: 55851
Primary Accession: Q9NZ42
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
