Protein Family: Hormones,Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Endocrine System,
Description:
PYY (peptide tyrosine-tyrosine amide) is a 36 amino-acid. PYY is a member of the pancreatic polypeptide (PP) family of peptides (neuropeptide Y (NPY), PYY and PP). While NPY is localized in neurons (both in the central and peripheral nervous system) and PP in the pancreatic islets, PYY is found in both neurons and the gut. PYY is released in response to food intake from the same endocrine cells (L cells) in the intestinal mucosa as the glucagon-like peptides and inhibits gall bladder secretion, gut motility and pancreatic secretion. These effects are similar to those of PP and overlap with the gut inhibitory activity of GLP-1. This antibody binds human PYY. Cross-reactivity with NPY or PP in solution was <0.1%.
Alternate Names: PYY, PYY-1, Peptide tyrosine tyrosine
Application Notes: Product Cat. No. 250241 binds free PYY in solution. Product Cat. No. 250241 reacts in ELISA with PYY coated directly onto the microtiter well. The antibody is used in IHC with paraffin-embedded tissues. E: 1:16,000; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: P10082
Antigen: Synthetic human PYY coupled to carrier with glutaraldehyde adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide gel and emulsified in Freund's incomplete adjuvant.
Format: Each vial contains 0.2 mg IgG in 0.2 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A/G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at 4°C. Product is guaranteed 6 months from the date of shipment.
