Protein Family: Enzymes, Protein Kinases
Pathway and Disease: Cell Growth and Death, Metabolic Disorders, Translation
Description:
PERK, a Ser/Thr protein kinase, phosphorylates the alpha subunit of eukaryotic translation-initiation factor 2 (EIF2), leading to its inactivation and to a rapid reduction of translational initiation and repression of global protein synthesis. PERK serves as a critical effector of unfolded protein response (UPR)-induced G1 growth arrest due to the loss of cyclin D1. Defects in PERK are the cause of Wolcott-Rallison syndrome, an early-onset diabetes mellitus.
Alternate Names: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2-alpha kinase 3, PRKR-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase, Pancreatic eIF2-alpha kinase, HsPEK, EIF2AK3, PEK, PERK
Application Notes: E: 1:500-1:1,000; WB: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: Q9NZJ5, NP_004827
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the C-term region of human PERK.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 17% glycerol with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-G affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
