Background:
AKT1belongs to the protein kinase C superfamily. This kinase is activated bythe Rho family of small G proteins and may mediate the Rho-dependent signaling pathway. This kinase can be activated by phospholipids and by limited proteolysis. The 3-phosphoinositide dependent protein kinase-1 (PDPK1/PDK1) is reported to phosphorylate this kinase, which may mediate insulin signals to the actin cytoskeleton. The proteolytic activation of this kinase by caspase-3 or related proteases during apoptosis suggests its role in signal transduction related to apoptosis.

Other Names:
RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase, Protein kinase B, PKB, Protein kinase B alpha, PKB alpha, Proto-oncogene c-Akt, RAC-PK-alpha, AKT1, PKB, RAC

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP3021a was selected from the region of human Phospho-AKT1-Y326. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: AKT1

Gene ID: 207
Primary Accession: P31749
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
