Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is similar tooxidoreductases, which are enzymes involved in cellular responsesto oxidative stresses and irradiation. This gene is induced by thetumor suppressor p53 and is thought to be involved in p53-mediatedcell death. It contains a p53 consensus binding site in itspromoter region and a downstream pentanucleotide microsatellitesequence. P53 has been shown to transcriptionally activate thisgene by interacting with the downstream pentanucleotidemicrosatellite sequence. The microsatellite is polymorphic, with avarying number of pentanucleotide repeats directly correlated withthe extent of transcriptional activation by p53. It has beensuggested that the microsatellite polymorphism may be associatedwith differential susceptibility to cancer. At least two transcriptvariants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.
Other Names:
Quinone oxidoreductase PIG3, 1---, Tumor protein p53-inducible protein 3, p53-induced gene 3 protein, TP53I3, PIG3
Gene Name: TP53I3 (HGNC:19373)
Gene ID: 9540
Primary Accession: Q53FA7
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
