Protein Family: Chaperones and Folding Catalysts
Pathway and Disease: Development and Behavior
Description:
Piwi-like protein 2 (PIWIL2) plays a central role during spermatogenesis by repressing transposable elements and preventing their mobilization, which is essential for the germline integrity. PIWIL2 plays an essential role in meiotic differentiation of spermatocytes, germ cell differentiation and in self-renewal of spermatogonial stem cells. PIWIL2 acts via the piRNA metabolic process, which mediates the repression of transposable elements during meiosis by forming complexes composed of piRNAs and PIWI proteins. PIWIL2 directly binds piRNAs, a class of 24 to 30 nucleotide RNAs that are generated by a Dicer-independent mechanism and are primarily derived from transposons and other repeated sequence elements.
Alternate Names: Piwi-like protein 2, Cancer/testis antigen 80, CT80, PIWIL2, HILI
Application Notes: E: 1:1,000-1:10,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: Q8TC59
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within the C-term region of human PIWIL2.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS, 2% BSA pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by immunogen affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
