Protein Family: Translation Factors
Pathway and Disease: Development and Behavior, Folding, Sorting and Degradation, Replication and Repair, Translation
Description:
Piwi-like protein 2 (PIWIL2) plays a central role during spermatogenesis by repressing transposable elements and preventing their mobilization, which is essential for the germline integrity. PIWIL2 acts via the piRNA metabolic process, which mediates the repression of transposable elements during meiosis by forming complexes composed of piRNAs and Piwi proteins and governing the methylation and subsequent repression of transposons. PIWIL2 binds pi RNAs, a class of 24 to 30 nucleotide RNAs that are generated by a Dicer-independent mechanism. PIWIL2 is also involved in the formation of chromatoid bodies and is required for some piRNAs stability.
Alternate Names: Piwi-like protein 2, Cancer/testis antigen 80, CT80, PIWIL2, HILI
Application Notes: E: 1:40,000-1:80,000; WB: 1:100-1:500; IHC: 1:100-1:500
Accession No.: Q8TC59
Antigen: KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide encompassing a sequence within human PIWIL2.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 mg IgG in 0.1 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4, 0.5% BSA with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by peptide-affinity chromatography.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. Minimize freeze-thaw cycles. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment.
