Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the PP2Cfamily of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases. PP2C family members areknown to be negative regulators of cell stress response pathways. This phosphatase dephosphorylates, and negatively regulates theactivities of, MAP kinases and MAP kinase kinases. It has beenshown to inhibit the activation of p38 and JNK kinase cascadesinduced by environmental stresses. This phosphatase can alsodephosphorylate cyclin-dependent kinases, and thus may be involvedin cell cycle control. Overexpression of this phosphatase isreported to activate the expression of the tumor suppressor geneTP53/p53, which leads to G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinctisoforms have been described.
Other Names:
Protein phosphatase 1A, Protein phosphatase 2C isoform alpha, PP2C-alpha, Protein phosphatase IA, PPM1A, PPPM1A
Gene Name: PPM1A
Gene ID: 5494
Primary Accession: P35813
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
