Pathway and Disease: Signaling Molecules and Interaction, Immune System

Description:
Protein C is a vitamin K-dependent serine protease that is produced in the liver and made up of 2 polypeptide chains. The 62 kDa proenzyme is activated by thrombin bound to an endothelial surface receptor and the active enzyme cleaves factor Va and VIIIa inhibitng blood coagulation. The molecular weight of the active enzyme is 55kDa and the normal concentration in human plasma is approximately 1-3 ng/ml while the concentration of the proenzyme is approximately 3 µg/ml due to the very fast turnover. This antibody reacts with human protein C.

Alternate Names: Vitamin K-dependent protein C, Autoprothrombin IIA, Anticoagulant protein C, Blood coagulation factor XIV

Application Notes: Product Cat. No. 250398 binds to protein C in sandwich ELISA with a biotin-labeled antigen as detection antibody. Antibody binding is calcium-dependent and optimal at 2.5 mM CaCl2 in Tris buffer. Product Cat. No. 250398 reacts in western blot with protein C in non-reduced form only. E: 1:2,000; WB: 1:200

Accession No.: P04070

Antigen: Protein C isolated from human plasma and adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide gel

Format: Each vial contains 0.2 mg IgG in 0.2 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A/G affinity chromatography.
