Protein Family: Enzymes, Protein Kinases
Pathway and Disease: Signal Transduction, Cell Communication,
Description:
PTK6 (Protein tyrosine kinase 6) is a 451-amino acid protein (~52kDa), may function as an intracellular signal transducer in epithelial tissues. Its presence in the nucleus appears to be linked to suppression of tumor progression. PTK6 has been shown to undergo autophosphorylation. Very high level in colon and high levels in small intestine and prostate, and low levels in some fetal tissues. Expressed at low level in some breast tumors, but not in normal breast tissue. Also found in melanocytes, but not expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. Overexpression of this gene in mammary epithelial cells leads to sensitization of the cells to epidermal growth factor and results in a partially transformed phenotype.
Alternate Names: Protein-tyrosine kinase 6, Breast tumor kinase, Tyrosine-protein kinase BRK, BRK, PTK6
Application Notes: WB: 1:500-1:2000
Accession No.: Q13882
Antigen: Purified recombinant fragment of human PTK6 expressed in E. coli.
Format: Each vial contains 0.1 ml ascitic fluid with 0.03% sodium azide.
Storage:
Store at 4°C for short term use only. Store at -20°C for storage over 1 month. Product is guaranteed 6 months from the date of shipment.
