Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a glycogenphosphorylase found predominantly in the brain. The encoded proteinforms homodimers which can associate into homotetramers, theenzymatically active form of glycogen phosphorylase. The activityof this enzyme is positively regulated by AMP and negativelyregulated by ATP, ADP, and glucose-6-phosphate. This enzymecatalyzes the rate-determining step in glycogen degradation.

Other Names:
Glycogen phosphorylase, brain form, PYGB

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13699a was selected from the N-term region of PYGB. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: PYGB {ECO:0000303|PubMed:3346228}

Gene ID: 5834
Primary Accession: P11216
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
