Protein Family: Transcription Factors
Pathway and Disease: Cancers, Cell Growth and Death
Alternate Names: Retinoblastoma-associated protein; PP110; P105-RB; RB; RB1
Accession No.: P06400, NP_000312
Description:
Retinoblastoma-associated protein (Rb) is a key regulator of entry into cell division that acts as a tumor suppressor. Rb is directly involved in the heterochromatin formation by maintaining overall chromatin structure and, in particular, that of constitutive heterochromatin by stabilizing histone methylation. Defects in Rb are a cause of retinoblastoma, bladder cancer and osteogenic sarcoma.
Format:
Each vial contains 0.1 mg of lyophilized peptide. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml. Use at 5.6 ug/ml for a 100X excess over antibody for maximum blocking effect.
MW: 1915.1 g/mol
Sequence:
The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200149 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human Rb. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
Composition:
C73H131N27O27S3
Purity:
> 80% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C.
