Description
ACAT1, also known as acetoacetyl-CoA thiolase, is an enzyme belongs to belongs to the membrane-bound acyltransferase family and Sterol o-acyltransferase subfamily. ACAT1 is an acetyl-CoA C-acetyltransferase enzyme. This enzyme catalyzes the reversible formation of acetoacetyl-CoA from two molecules of acetyl-CoA. It plays a role in lipoprotein assembly and dietary cholesterol absorption. In addition to its acyltransferase activity, it may act as a ligase. Recombinant human ACAT1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.Alternative Names
