Description
BHMT2 is involved in the regulation of homocysteine metabolism. Homocysteine is a sulfur-containing amino acid that plays a crucial role in methylation reactions. Transfer of the methyl group from betaine to homocysteine creates methionine, which donates the methyl group to methylate DNA, proteins, lipids, and other intracellular metabolites. BHMT2 is one of two methyl transferases that can catalyze the transfer of the methyl group from betaine to homocysteine. Recombinant human BHMT2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli.Alternative Names
S-methylmethionine-homocysteine S-methyltransferase BHMT2 isoform 1, S-methylmethionine-homocysteine S-methyltransferase BHMT2 isoform 1, betaine--homocysteine S-methyltransferase 2Concentration
0.5mg/ml (determined by Bradford assay)Concentration
Liquid in. 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0) containing 0.4M urea, 10% glycerolStorage: Can be stored at +2C to +8C for 1 week. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20C to -80C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.
