Description
CEACAM-8, also known as CD66b, is a cell surface glycoprotein that plays a role in cell adhesion in a calcium-independent manner. It mediates heterophilic cell adhesion with other carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecules, such as CEACAM6. Its main function is cell adhesion, cell migration, and pathogen binding. However, its biological functions are largely unknown in eosinophils. It has been reported that CEACAM-8 is highly expressed on the surface of human peripheral blood eosinophils isolated from healthy individuals and used as granulocyte marker. Recombinant human CEACAM-8, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.Alternative Names
