Description
EIF2B1 is one of five subunits of eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B (EIF2B), a GTP exchange factor for eukaryotic initiation factor 2 and an essential regulator for protein synthesis. Phosphorylation of eIF2 inhibits GEF activity of EIF2B, an inhibition that requires the eIF2B1 subunit. Defects in eIF2B1 are a cause of leukoencephalopathy with vanishing white matter (VWM), a brain disease that is characterized by head trauma and motor deterioration. Recombinant human EIF2B1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.Alternative Names
Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B subunit alpha, Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2B subunit 1 alpha 26kDa, EIF-2Balpha, EIF-2B, EIF2BA, EIF2Balpha, Translation initiation factor eIF-2B subunit alpha, eIF-2B GDP-GTP exchange factor subunit alphaConcentration
0.5mg/ml (determined by Bradford assay)Concentration
Liquid in. 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0) containing 10% glycerol, 0.1M NaClStorage: Can be stored at +2C to +8C for 1 week. For long term storage, aliquot and store at -20C to -80C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing cycles.
