Description
Neutral cholesterol ester hydrolase 1, also known as NCEH1, hydrolyzes 2-acetyl monoalkylglycerol ether, the penultimate precursor of the pathway for de novo synthesis of platelet-activating factor. It may be responsible for cholesterol ester hydrolysis in macrophages, thereby contributing to the development of atherosclerosis. Also NCEH1 is involved in organ detoxification by hydrolyzing exogenous organophosphorus compounds. This protein may contribute to cancer pathogenesis by promoting tumor cell migration. Recombinant human NCEH1 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E. coli.Alternative Names
