Description
TYRP1, also known as 5, 6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid oxidase, is a melanosomal enzyme that belongs to the tyrosinase family and plays an important role in the melanin biosynthetic pathway. It is a melanocyte-specific gene product involved in eumelanin synthesis. It is involved in the oxidation of 5, 6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid (DHICA) into indole-5, 6-quinone-2-carboxylic acid. It is regulated by the microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF). Recombinant human TYRP1, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.Alternative Names
