Background:
Ribosomes, the organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. Togetherthese subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80structurally distinct proteins. This gene encodes a ribosomalprotein that is a component of the 40S subunit. The protein belongsto the S12E family of ribosomal proteins. It is located in thecytoplasm. Increased expression of this gene in colorectal cancerscompared to matched normal colonic mucosa has been observed. As istypical for genes encoding ribosomal proteins, there are multipleprocessed pseudogenes of this gene dispersed through the genome.
Other Names:
40S ribosomal protein S12, RPS12
Gene Name: RPS12 (HGNC:10385)
Gene ID: 6206
Primary Accession: P25398
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
