Background:
MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that is released during microbial infection, ARDS, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and cancer. It signals through CXCR4, CXCR7, or complexes of CD74-CD44. MIF exhibits potent paracrine and autocrine stimulatory effects on cell growth and survival and enhances the production of inflammatory cytokines. It also inhibits the effectiveness of immunosuppressive glucocorticoids.
Long Name: Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor
Synonyms:
GLIF, Glycosylation-inhibiting factor, L-dopachrome isomerase, L-dopachrome tautomerase, MIF, MMIF, Phenylpyruvate tautomerase
Sample Type:
Serum, Plasma, Cell culture supernatant.
Assay Lenght: 3.5h
