Background:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the serineprotease inhibitor (serpin) superfamily made up of proteins whichplay central roles in the regulation of a wide variety ofphysiological processes, including coagulation, fibrinolysis, development, malignancy and inflammation. The gene product may havea role in a growth-control, possibly growth-suppressing pathwayand, when impaired, may be involved in pancreatic carcinogenesis. The protein is a member of the plasminogen activator inhibitor-1family, a subset of the serpin superfamily whose members act astissue-specific tPA inhibitors. Two alternatively splicedtranscript variants encoding distinct protein isoforms have beenfound for this gene.
Other Names:
Serpin I2, Myoepithelium-derived serine protease inhibitor, Pancpin, Pancreas-specific protein TSA2004, Peptidase inhibitor 14, PI-14, SERPINI2, MEPI, PI14
Gene Name: SERPINI2
Gene ID: 5276
Primary Accession: O75830
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
