Background:
This gene encodes a sodium- and chloride-dependent glycineneurotransmitter transporter. This integral membrane glycoproteinis responsible for the clearance of extracellular glycine duringglycine-mediated neurotransmission. This protein is found inglycinergic axons and maintains a high presynaptic pool ofneurotransmitter at glycinergic synapses. Mutations in this genecause hyperekplexia; a heterogenous neurological disordercharacterized by exaggerated startle responses and neonatal apnea.
Other Names:
Sodium- and chloride-dependent glycine transporter 2, GlyT-2, GlyT2, Solute carrier family 6 member 5, SLC6A5, GLYT2, NET1
Gene Name: SLC6A5
Gene ID: 9152
Primary Accession: Q9Y345
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
