Background:
Organelles of the secretory and endocytic pathways aredistinguished by their luminal acidity, which is generated by theactivity of an electrogenic vacuolar-type hydrogen ATPase.Progressive acidification of vesicles in the endocytic pathway isessential for the redistribution and degradation of internalizedmembrane proteins, such as ligand receptor complexes andfluid-phase solutes. This gene is expressed predominantly in thetrans-Golgi network, and mediates the influx of sodium or potassiumin exchange for hydrogen. It may thus play an important role inmaintaining cation homeostasis and function of the trans-Golginetwork. This gene is part of a gene cluster on chromosome Xp11.23.

Other Names:
Sodium/hydrogen exchanger 7, Na(+)/H(+) exchanger 7, NHE-7, Solute carrier family 9 member 7, SLC9A7, NHE7

Target/Specificity:
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody AP13243b was selected from the C-term region of SLC9A7. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.

Gene Name: SLC9A7

Gene ID: 84679
Primary Accession: Q96T83
Format: Peptides are lyophilized in a solid powder format. Peptides can be reconstituted in solution using the appropriate buffer as needed.
