Protein Family: Receptors and Channels
Pathway and Disease: Nervous and Sensory Systems, Signaling Molecules and Interaction
Alternate Names: LVV-hemorphin-4; Spinorphin; Hemoglobin subunit beta; beta-globin; hemoglobin beta chain
Accession No.: P68871
Description:
Spinorphin belongs to the family of hemorphins, which are endogenous peptides belonging to the family of atypical opioid peptides released from hydrolyzed hemoglobin. Hemorphin-4 binds preferentially to mu- delta and kappa receptors. Spinorphin functions as an endogenous inhibitor of enkephalin-degrading enzymes such as DPP3, and as a selective antagonist of the P2RX3 receptor which is involved in pain signaling. These properties implicate it as a regulator of pain and inflammation.
Format:
Each vial contains 5 mg of lyophilized solid packaged under an inert gas and supplied as a trifluoroacetate salt.
MW: 877.06 g/mol
Sequence:
H-Leu-Val-Val-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-OH or H-LVVYPWT-OH
Composition:
C45H64N8O10
Purity:
> 95% by HPLC
Solubility:
Distilled water for a solution up to 2 mg/ml, otherwise we recommend using acetonitrile.
Storage:
Store at -20°C. The product is hygroscopic and must be protected from light. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C.
