Protein Family: Glycan Binding Proteins
Pathway and Disease: Immune System, Infectious Diseases
Description:
Surfactant protein D (SP-D) is synthesized and secreted by lung epithelial cells. It belongs to group III of the family of C-type lectins and members of this group has overall structure consisting of multiple globular 'head' regions linked by triple-helical, collagen-like, strands. This group also includes SP-A and the serum proteins mannan-binding protein, conglutinin and collectin-43, all of which have been shown to bind to the C1q receptor found on a wide variety of cells. Both SP-D and SP-A have been shown to enhance oxygen radical production by alveolar macrophages. The serum concentration is 88 ng/ml in healthy individuals. This antibody is specific for human SP-D.
Alternate Names: Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein D, SP-D, PSP-D, PSPD, Lung surfactant protein D
Application Notes: Product Cat. No. 250401 reacts specifically with SP-D in immunohistochemical staining of paraffin-embedded tissues. Immunoreactivity is seen in epithelial cells of the lung, skin, small intestine, esophagus, gall-bladder, kidney and urinary bladder. Product Cat. No. 250401 reacts strongly in western blot with SP-D in both reduced and non-reduced forms. Product Cat. No. 250401 can be used in ELISA in presence of calcium. E: 1:250; WB: 1:20,000; IHC: 1:800
Accession No.: P35247
Antigen: Recombinant neck CRD SP-D
Format: Each vial contains 0.2 mg IgG in 0.2 ml (1 mg/ml) of PBS pH7.4 with 0.09% sodium azide. Antibody was purified by Protein-A/G affinity chromatography.
