Background:
The intronless gene for this transcription coactivator islocated between the protocadherin beta and gamma gene clusters onchromosome 5. The protein encoded by this gene is a component ofthe TFIID protein complex, a complex which binds to the TATA box inclass II promoters and recruits RNA polymerase II and otherfactors. This particular subunit interacts with the largest TFIIDsubunit, as well as multiple transcription activators. The proteinis required for transcription by promoters targeted by RNApolymerase II.
